Established in 2013, Generali Italia is the new insurance business that incorporates the history and customer portfolio of Generali, Toro Assicurazioni, Ina Assitalia, Lloyd Italico and Augusta. The Company operates through four specialised centres, focused by type of business: Mogliano Veneto (Life and Business), Turin (Motor), Milan (Claims Settlement), Rome (Non-Motor Retail and Institutional), and – through their own network of agencies – manages over 500,000 pension plans and insures over 1.5 million homes, 200,000 buildings, 900,000 companies and 4 million vehicles.
The consolidation of information of the same kind is a step forward in terms of organisation – though it does entail clear difficulties in terms of compatibility and consistency for the operations required to achieve this goal. The merger that created the Assicurazioni Generali Group led to the issue of centralising within a single database and managing within a single shared software program the Non-Life, Non-Motor insurance policies of Generali, Ina Assitalia, Toro/Lloyd/Augusta. There was therefore a demand for a high-performing System, one that could combine in shared form the distinctive features of the source systems and ensure a low rate of errors and bugs.
In order to avoid inconsistent, dispersed data, with an eye on the goal of eliminating the drawbacks inherent to a monumental migration process, Sysdata offered a target System with high performance levels, one that shortly became a key tool for the Sales Network.
With their centres in Mestre, Bologna and Rome, Sysdata has managed, in factory mode, some of the Migration process steps, completing the centralised transfer of approximately 5 million policies. The ability to adapt and tackle the challenges presented has also allowed us to manage various projects for developing the target System, dealing with many surges in activities with tough deadlines, from start-up to commissioning production.
Successfully released in Production, the target System to manage the Non-Life, Non-Motor portfolio is used with no drops in performance by the 5,000 or so companies in the sales network, and ensures a low rate of errors due to software bugs or incorrectly migrated data.
